UNAM Archives

Welcome to UNAM Archives

The University of Namibia Archives (UNAM Archives) was established in 1994 to ensure the collection, management and preservation of the university's institutional memory. The university's institutional memory contains records of the university since its inception in 1992, records of the former Academy, publications by UNAM, as well as photographic and poster collections. The university also inherited the records of the former national education colleges ( Windhoek, Rundu, Katima and Ongwediva Colleges of Education) and agricultural colleges (Neudamm and Ogongo Colleges). These records are currently housed at the respective campuses. All business records in our holding that has existed for thirty (30) years or more are available for research in the Archives reading room, as provided for by the Archives Act, no 12 of 1992.

UNAM Archives also holds private archival collections on Namibian history, politics, language and religion which are available for research. The private collections' database is available for search based on archival groups, fonds, individual files, items or subject titles. All items described here are available physically at the UNAM Archives.

UNAM Archives is located in the basement, at the Lower Ground Floor of the Main Library in Windhoek, Namibia.
